LNG CARRIER SAFE OPERATIONS IN PORT


This course provides training for ship and shore personnel with immediate responsibility for the loading, unloading and care in transit or handling of LNG cargo. It comprises a specialized training programme appropriate to their duties, including LNG carrier safety, operational practice, ship/shore interface, associated operations and obligations under applicable laws and regulations.

The LNG Carrier safe operations in port training course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction. An explanation of the LNG Chain (from wells to end user)
  • LNG fleet. Types of LNGC. Importance of safety
  • Role of key organisations (IMO, SIGTTO, OCIMF, etc)
  • Pre-docking operation procedures, safe and precise berthing
  • Mooring and LNG jetty head layouts. Loading arms
  • Security measures and restrictions around terminals
  • The correct type and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and firefighting equipment
  • Management of the LNG tanker and terminal interface

            - Communications Procedures & Precautions

            - Information from Tanker to Terminal

            - Information from Terminal to Tanker

            - Pre-Berthing Exchang of Information  

  • Pre Custody Transfer safety and operation, including checklists
  • Loading, carriage and discharging of LNG. Cargo equipment on LNGC
  • How LNG is measured and calculated
  • Pre Custody Transfer Marine Emergency Shut Down (ESD)tests and line cooldown
  • Monitoring of Custody Transfer and emergency contingency plans
  • Keeping accurate records and issuing Letters of Protest
  • Options during any emergency while an LNGC is alongside the LNG berth
  • Discussion and Assessment
