11-12 of April 2017 Novikontas Maritime College gathered second International FISH Platform. The Fishing Industry Safety and Health Platform (FISH Platform) provides for the needs of the fishing industry on a joint approach to improve the safety and health of fishermen and reducing accidents in the industry as well as the harmonisation of EU fishing training and certification.
12 maritime industry professionals form Latvia, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Belgium gave an update on relevant safety and health developments in their home country, as well as their recent initiatives in order to share knowledge and experience.
During 2 days of presentations, seminars and discussions, participants also reviewed recent events in the world of fishing industry and analysed possible improvements of working and living conditions, fishing vessel safety and health of fishermen.
Director of Novikontas Maritime College Aleksandr Chropenko expressed gratitude to all the participants of FISH Platform meeting, for taking interest and initiative in this event and visiting Riga.
