Practical Seminar for the shore-based personnel

Novikontas Maritime College held a practical seminar in “Fast Rescue Boats and Work at Heights” on September 25, 2015. This seminar was designed and developed especially for the shore based personnel, working in crewing and ship managing companies, who want to familiarize themselves with safety aspects at sea. That kind of seminar is a great opportunity to discover how difficult and even danger seafarer’s work might be and the importance of proper safety training at sea.
The following companies’ representatives participated in the seminar:

  • Tallink;
  • Lowland;
  • OSM;
  • BGI;
  • Atlas;
  • SIDC group.

During the training the participants performed lots of adventurous tasks. They handled the Fast Rescue Boat, swam in a special equipment, searched of casualty and recovered it from the water, worked aloft, just to name a few. Our safety instructors Vadims Kohanuks and Maris Logins never expected that aspiration and courage from the delegates.“Everyone was eager to complete all tasks although they had to overcome difficulties such as weather conditions, psychological barriers and tiredness. We were really glad to see that all participants completed the training successfully.” – said Head of Safety Department Vadims Kohanuks This seminar will commence again before long, so all our partners and colleagues, who are willing to participate are very welcome next time.
